Hello and welcome to
Wyke Archers of Hull & the East Riding of Yorkshire.
Wyke Archers (Wyke upon Hull being the ancient name for Kingston upon Hull) was established in 2005, practising on a west Hull rugby field with a few bows and some 2nd hand straw targets to shoot at. Contrary to popular local thinking, we have nothing at all to do with Wyke College even though many automatically think we do because of the similar names! We relocated in 2010 to secure grounds within a school in Willerby, then again in 2016 to a school in Anlaby. This gives us a choice of indoor or outdoor shooting depending on the weather, so we now never have to cancel a session due to rain etc. You will find on our website all the information you need regarding costs, courses, and how to book with us to try out your skills at Archery.
Social Media: Please feel free to browse our site, and contact us with any questions you have about our club. We also recommend that you have a look on our Facebook page or Twitter page where you will find further details of our club, many photographs taken during our club sessions, and pictures from our fun shoots. We also now have a Flickr account for all our club photo albums!
Archery GB Members: We have an open door policy to all AGB members who are registered with another club. If you are a bowman or women at a club elsewhere wishing to visit, come down, show your current AGB card, and you will be welcomed to shoot with us for the cost of the line fee on the day. This is standard policy with most clubs allowing members to shoot almost anywhere in the UK.
Corporate Events: If you run a local business and would like to discuss shooting with us as a team building/corporate event please get in touch and we’ll work with you to meet your requirements.
Target Renewal Program: We have now completed our program of target boss renewal and are proud to announce that we are now no longer shooting at old style straw bosses. New bosses made from foam in a bespoke framework have been made and we can now shoot at a staggering 12 foam targets. This gives us greater flexibility and allows those with expensive carbon alloy arrows greater surety that they will not be damaged and we can cater to those who have moved over to the dark side (compound bow)…..
Arbalists: We have had a few requests and unfortunately our club does not accept Arbalists (crossbow shooters) to shoot with us at this time. More arbalist information can be found on the National Crossbow Federation website for those looking to enter this sport, and a handy leaflet on the safe use of crossbows and the UK Law is also available.
